They WERE right about gatekeeping (music having spent the first half of the 20th century being a mobbed-up criminal enterprise, and the second half being a mobbed-up semi-legit one). But their real objection was about not BEING said gatekeepers. (I listen to PBS if you're wondering)

Radio in general is terrible, but I have good memories of the Triple J Hip Hop show and that weird experimental electronic program at 2am back in the early 2010s. Jordan pegged that whiny haven't washed your hair since primary school music from the 2000s perfectly. Thank goodness for Spotify!

I surprisingly got told they had my song rotating a lot on Triple J ‘Just Used Music Again’ and then when our 2nd release came around ( a song called Fashion Blogger where we were paying out influencers and hierarchy social media egoists ) they completely snuffed it 😂

Triple J, 25 years ago actually had their fingers on the pulse of what is hot or not. And they catered for all, not just 16 to 22 year olds. They had a bigger demographic which in turn allowed for greater variety in music played. These days, if Triple J was on fire, I wouldn't even piss on them to put them out.
