Nuclear Power: The Idiot's Choice

[Early Access]

Nuclear Power...

Peta Credlin from Sky News would have you believe that Nuclear Power is a wonderful, emission free alternative to renewables - and Australia's reticence to jump on board the worldwide nuclear bandwagon is just crazy!

There are literally no downsides to nuclear energy, right?

And countries across the world aren't choosing to decommission old nuclear reactors, halt the production of new ones and instead build a metric f*cktonne of solar and wind generators? Are they?

WE JUST NEED TO HAVE THE CONVERSATION, AUSTRALIA!

As always, thank you all so much for your continued support of our channel. Love you <3

Nuclear Power: The Idiot's Choice

Solar panels aren't shitty. It's the fact that you can't capture the energy for use through the night. That's where batteries come in. 😂👍

So you've been challenged by Meow-Ludo Meow-Meow to debate on camera nuclear power. Take the bait 😊 https://www.facebook.com/meowludo/posts/10156398229280906

Please make a video on energy alternative to follow up on this. A lot of people in the comments don't seem to realise that solar thermal energy and graphene batteries exist. Everyone is just throwing around stats (a lot of them probably unreliable) about shitty solar panels.

Nuclear is not the long-term solution, but it's certainly a better option than coal, a lot of the reactors that are considered "high risk" are old water based reactors that were designed in the 60s and 70s (Modern reactors of particular note are SMRs or Small Modular Reactors which are a lot safer by contrast). Obviously solar and wind need to increase, but that doesn't mean we should dismiss nuclear, all options that do not emit carbon need to be on the table, Jordies, here's an actually informed video for you to watch where all non-carbon based energy options are put on the table, don't forget that wind and solar are unreliable compared to baseload power options like Nuclear (unpredictability of electricity markets is what causes price increases): https://mediasite.engr.wisc.edu/Mediasite/Play/f77cfe80cdea45079cee72ac7e04469f1d

Jordies fucked this one up. Tin-foil derp. If you're not after someone to confirm your world view, here's an informed view http://vaclavsmil.com/uploads/Gridlines_0524_smil_spd.pdf

How about turning the lights off, not watching tv, not travelling anywhere and growing your own food, (making Soylent Green the insurance on crop failures.) Ha ha ha ha! But, seriously, I don't know how you endure the paid advertorial content on commercial tv, just having it on induces visceral suffering in me! Thanks for abridging it for me, and reducing my exposure to all the sensational diversionisms.

My god, the press has touted so much mis-information about nuclear in Australia. It is not an option in reality, it takes an average of 5 years for a nuclear power plant to be up and running. The capital required to develop nuclear is massive (The government would have to privatise everything to even float it). Nuclear is far more expensive to establish, run and maintain. The environmental impact is huge with sites ear-marked to possibly build or mine are on significant Aboriginal sites (bring on a Aboriginal referendum, hopefully that will put more power into the hands of the traditional land owners!) You are right FJ's. This is a smoke and mirrors job from a government that is being propped up by the fossil fuel industry and wants to wipe out as many endangered species in three years as humanly possible. Great vid, cheers

EK

Glad to see this as a video topic. Nuclear is where capital is going - aka not good for the rest of us. They are really trying to push it

Okay but solar is far from perfect and we can't expect a 100% wind powered future, simply because who has the monolopy on wind? I hate to go full tinfoil but "they" won't let it happen. So Jordy bby what do you suggest?

Rob

I swing on this issue more often than my mum did when she met my dad. Consider me swung again.

What do you expect from the idiots who still want to build more coal run power stations... 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Issa osama

To be honest, this is my issue with it at the moment https://youtu.be/o5nR9Fdv6U4
