Dangerous Games Alternate Scene #1
Added 2021-01-17 07:19:06 +0000 UTCThis is a deleted/alternate scene of when Ethan first arrived at the Eckhart estate the night of the party. The reason I ended up not using it in the end was because I felt it was too long winded and it made Ethan's ability way too strong. Be warned, since I ended up not using it there will be grammar and syntax errors.
A bit of set up: Ethan is on a bus traveling with all the other servers to the Eckhart estate. He's making small talk when the bus finally reaches the front gate.
********************************
“Hey, are you okay?” One of the other servers Ethan had been talking asked him after he noticed his sudden change in demeanor.
Ethan realized that they didn’t feel it, nobody beside him seemed to even be aware of this overpowering presence.
“Yeah, sorry, I suddenly felt lightheaded there for a second, I think my blood sugar must be low.” Ethan lied.
As the gate opened and the bus moved toward the giant mansion Ethan began to wonder what the hell it was that he was feeling, and why was he the only one feeling it. Ethan tried to focus but the strange presence he felt was making it difficult to concentrate, after a bit of effort Ethan was finally able to steady his mind and began to focus on his breathing. Slowly the noise around him began to fade and the world around him began to slow down to a crawl. Ethan closed his eyes and began to sense everything around him, the people around him stuck out like sore thumbs in his mind so he quickly tuned them out and began to search for the source of the strange presence he felt. Over the years through training and practice, Ethan learned that he could focus and tune his ability in different ways, like focusing his ability to sense people farther away. It was a bit more difficult than when using it normally and it left him a bit-tired afterword, but this variation had saved him more than once. It could only go so far but with how overwhelming the presence Ethan felt was, he didn’t think it would matter, he needed to know what he was walking into. As the bus drew closer to the mansion Ethan began to sense the different people already inside.
Ethan continued to concentrate as the bus moved ever closer allowing him to sense more of the mansion, and then he found it, the source of the overwhelming presence he felt. It was unlike anything he’d ever felt before; POWERFUL, it was the only word Ethan could think of to describe it. Then as if sensing his gaze, the source looks back at him, Ethan’s blood ran cold, not only had this thing sensed Ethan’s ability it seemed to be looking right at him through it. Ethan quickly cancelled his ability; everything slowly went back to normal and all the noise he had filtered out before slowly came back.
Ethan’s looked around and thankfully no one seemed to have noticed what just happened. “What the hell was that?’ Ethan whispered to himself.
Ethan took a deep breath and realized that the overwhelming presence from before was gone, he couldn’t feel it at all. Ethan didn’t understand what was happening
