She smiled, although she couldn’t breathe.

Eon stared at her strangely.

“What?” she asked.

“I think I am falling in love with you.”

The revelation made her gape. “Uh…”

“Ran,” Neil called out from the distance. “It’s getting late. Vrox will start looking soon if I don’t bring you home.”

Eon gripped her tighter when his jealousy made a complete u-turn. “Why are you with him?”

“Neil?” she frowned. “I just needed him as an excuse to get out of the pyramid. Relax, he’s like a brother.”

“I don’t like him.”

She rolled her eyes. “Yeah, well, the feeling is probably mutual.”

Silence took over.

“You have to go.”

She sighed frustratedly. “I know I do. I’ll come back, though. I just need some time to figure out what to do.”

“You know that you can’t come back.”

She glared. “You can’t tell me something like…”

“I should’ve strangled you when I had the chance,” he glared. “Vrox will not let us be together.”

“And since when have I given a fuck about what dad decides for me?”

“Mothers and Fates,” Eon sighed. “I am trying to protect you from pain.”

“Well, you’re failing, because you’re becoming a huge pain in my–”

He kissed her, teeth clashing with teeth and desperation clashing with need.

“Ran,” Neil tried again, although he knew better than to enter the room.

“I’ll be back,” Ran promised Eon.

She fixed her clothes and squeezed his hand.

“Be careful,” Eon warned.

She winked and bent down so he good a last look under her skirt.

“Ran!” he growled.

She blew him a kiss and walked to the door. “I’ll return in two days.”

Eon hesitated, but then he nodded. “I will count down the hours.”

She smiled at him, and then she was gone.
