BEHIND THE SCENES #9 - [S1E8.41]: Are You Sure?

WOAH!!! drama!!!!!

so, it turns out adrian has some unresolved feelings about ava, huh? who could have guessed!! i mean, its totally normal to follow around your old best friend and try to mess with them, right? right....??????

we'll hear a lot more of what actually happened between the two in the next update--but for now, i'm just SO excited to finally be at this part, lmao. it's been in my head for like, a year now, ever since ava was first introduced... wolfboy was always meant to be her counterpart, so actually getting to SHOW that finally feels SO epic

also, next time we'll finally get some answers about something people have been speculating on for a while now!! i wonder if anyone will guess it from the cliffhanger? either way, i think it'll be a really good update!!! >:3c im so happy i have two days to do it though, lol--im definitely gonna need it!!!

so, on the technical side with this update!! something i can talk about that's interesting with this one, and hasn't come up before, is balancing character dynamics!!  specifically what i mean by that is, making sure a character doesn't come off as out of character or unlikeable in any way!

there's a lot of different personalities on display in this story's characters, and for the most part, i think they're pretty unique among each other!! or at least, i'd like to think so... >w>''... but in dealing with all these different personalities, i end up struggling sometimes to not over-indulge in a single trait of a character; for example, making penny TOO childish, or making rem TOO abrasive--those are important aspects of their personalities, but if i'm not careful, bouncing between so many different people at once could lead to them becoming sorta one dimensional!! 

i think your brain tends to naturally simplify ideas in your head--so i have to be careful not to let my understandings of the characters get muddled!! for this reason, i actually have a big list of core character traits for each main cast member--essentially, something i can reference if i haven't written a character in a while, just to get a quick refresher on any important parts of their personality i might have forgotten!! it's been very helpful so far, hehe >w>''

it's a really tough thing to balance for me--i have autism, so i'm not really great at understanding social cues, or how tone is conveyed through text... so, it takes genuine thought to make sure i don't make a character say something that could be taken wrong!! i really do just sit there for minutes at a time analyzing lines in my head, lol... 

to give a real life example of this utter social obliviousness, in middle school i was getting bullied for TWO STRAIGHT MONTHS and DIDNT REALISE IT.... i seriously thought i had just made a friend, but it was literally just like. fake friendship so his real friends could make fun of me. but then the kid who was faking being my friend was like damn this girls chill. and we became best buds for realsies! shoutout to anthony... he was a real one... i miss that dude!!!

well, anyway, we got a little off topic there--but yea!!! so, writing is hard for me--but really rewarding, too!! i'm so thankful that this can be my job, hehe... thank you guys so much for supporting me in this-- it really does make my world a brighter place!! <3
