Az leans back, watching as you put everything back into a box where you keep your first aid kit. You feel their gaze on your skin like a featherlight touch, and you swallow, suddenly nervous for no reason. They have been here so many times, have seen you in your nightwear, cuddled with you in your bed… There is nothing strange about their attention and their presence in your personal space… Nothing…
“I am really not good to you,” they murmur so quietly that it takes you a moment to understand what they said.
You put the box in a cabinet. “Don’t speak nonsense.” You’re not the greatest for them either, considering how precarious your position is in society… and in life.
They smile gently, looking at you like they disagree but they don’t want to upset you by arguing. You don’t want to argue with them either—you’ve repeated this conversation many times before, and it has exhausted you. Az is set on thinking like this, and you’ve given up on trying to change their mind. It is like talking to a wall.
Just like it is for them when they try to change your mind on your place in their life.
Childhood friends, similar ages, everything else is the same. This would be earlier in their lives, during their twenties. You can take a peek into Az's life pre-story and see a bit of what they were dealing with (though without the Oracle). This turned out kind of angsty... I hope you enjoy it anyway!
