Not sure if it’s too late for me to bring it up or hell maybe they will talk about it some this coming episode, but I’m in WNC and we just got rocked with a massive storm and Hurricane Helene this past week. I just got cell connection yesterday for the first time since Helene hit Friday morning. It’s truly awful out here and recovery looks like it will be a very long time. This reminds me so much of the Eastern Kentucky floods two years ago. I encourage anyone who reads this and is able to to please donate to Red Cross, United Way, or just any reputable grassroots/mutual aid organizations that are providing relief for the victims of Helene. The communities here could absolutely use any support you can provide.

And not only in the general sense of all things being shaped by what’s come before, it is specific, and intentional. And it’s frustrating to understand that’s still what the problem is, like an old splinter that hasn’t been removed and it’s infected, and at the same time there’s another group of people who are upset that anyone is still bringing it up and likening it to talking about what’s in their sock drawer or “seeing shapes.”
