Re:Friday ..."The US is back!" has the same energy as a divorced dad showing up once for his kid's thing, and being surprised when he's not singled out for praise. Also - re: glass delusion - if I remember correctly, the material involved with "the glass-delusion" sorta moved with whatever material that was particularly exotic and/or novel at the time, and slotted that in to the delusion (even delusional people want to feel special). So, earlier examples of the glass-delusion would claim that their body was made out of some other material than glass, but was otherwise very similar in how the phenomenon manifested ("I have to be careful about moving, because I might shatter"). I don't know what that material would be in modern times; maybe graphene, or some kind of speculative nano-bots? Or maybe glass still has a lasting, psychological appeal.
