Talking about lone wolf violence in the United States, back in the day there used to be a honey pot called Combat 18 that published a self-starter fascist guide on "leaderless resistance" with a heavy dose of Protocols of Zion and references to other race war and all the other tropes of far right murder motives. I've been watching the far right and fighting them since I was a teenager, and C18 is one of those things that probably has found purchase in monstrous violent ways in the United States.

//Also, the visual of Tarence walking to the local library to check out his microfiche, being rolled coal on and called an f-word, is oddly sweet. ..it's like a tableau of pointless interactions.

...A lot of the umph from "the Omen" was taken away after I watched a behind-the-scenes documentary about it, and the last shot - where the kid "creepily" starts smiling to the camera - was done with the director telling the kid-actor "don't you smile, don't you dare smile now" until he cracked a smile, the way kids do. It's very effective on-screen film-making, and also an adorable little moment of technical, behind the scenes film-making. //Edit: Also, apparently the kid was naturally very blonde, and had his hair darkened on a daily basis with whatever quick-apply solution was available in the mid 70's. ...So probably not that far off from using actual shoe-polish. Turned out great though.
