As a gen z er (2002) from north florida i’ve only met 2 other people my age who I can talk about Marx with. I definitely agree its a pendulum shift back to “individual growth.” No one today, from what I’ve seen, can conceptualize community. Idk. We are all like fucked by our phones too. As a gen z, I think the tragedy marking the generation is long term (climate change) but I do feel like the us is trying to go to war with China. TikTok does get political but kind of in a like posturing/clout way? There is like direct action on there though

I may be wrong, but I always associate the “lick a finger to turn the page” with turning individual pages of the Bible. Those pages are usually so much thinner than in regular books and it’s harder to turn a single page. At least, the only person I’ve ever seen do that in real life was my great grandmother when reading her Bible
