How come every time Kanye does something boneheaded, it means three episodes trying to intellectualize it? He's obvious and boring, has been for years.

Hey, those movie takes are spicy but i feel like you're mostly talking about american cinema (and then again, there's boots riley)

Tom on Sunday: "(Kanye) just gets taken for a ride by the most obvious con artists." Kanye on Monday: Buys Parler (owned by Candace Owens' Dad) after hanging with Owens for a while.

I feel like people missed the part where the artwork is behind glass. These protests don't even destroy the art lol. There was some minor damage to the frame and that's it.

The Nazis destroyed their then contemporary art, not antique art. They were obsessed with preserving the latter but destroyed Picasso’s, etc.

there’s a lot to criticize about a24 and their specific brand of vulgar auterism, but I always wonder why traditional narrative structures are the fulcrum that people judge cinema’s artistry on. Film is an inherently surrealist form (at least post-montage) and I think the loosening of audience expectation for a traditional 3 act structure is one of the virtues of the sort of “genre prestige” studios and distributors. I think a larger issue is that they’ve just kind of created a counter hegemony to MCU style blockbusters wherein ANY deviation from the norm is seen as radically subversive by general audiences because mainstream film has been so rigidly assembled by committee for the last 20 years. Basically Id say A24s problem is that it doesnt go far enough and isn’t actually as aesthetically daring or narratively non-traditional as it would like you to believe. You can see this becoming even more the case when you compare them with work they put out 10 years ago, something like Under the Skin would probably look very different and significantly more uniform and expensive if A24 made it in 2021 and not the early 2010s. idk tho Id be interested in arguments that hold traditional narrative as inherently more valuable or full of depth. I just think that film has new aesthetics to explore but the vast expense of the artform has failed the digital era to do anything but cheaply imitating the film brats.

Missed opportunity for an episode title - "racheting down the tactics"
