Man. It sucks. I just recently looked up where the majority of black people are in this country. And it’s incredibly clear. For forever, I actually thought that black people made up like 40% of the population. Cos I live in the south. The large majority of the people I talk to every day are black. Like 95%. So seeing the map, and then thinking back on all these liberals, but also effing progressives and self-described marxists bashing the south on and on and on. And they’re so pissed that the south doesn’t vote for them. Or even for Bernie. I tried to volunteer in SC to do anything for the Bernie campaign, and there was no response for forever. I tried to go to this place that was on the map, I think on the app, and absolutely nothing was there. The response I got was so demoralizing, and also, so… so idk, I was just so suddenly aware of how much they were fucking up. And I went on all these places trying to find someone to talk to in his campaign about how little organizing was being done in SC. And they were going to fail. I told them. I offered help. I was willing to take a lead even, and I’m shy as crap. But I was met with a wall everywhere. And then of course, the vote happens and Bernie is winning and winning and everyone is excited, and then it comes to SC, and it was over. And it was like we were the shame of the nation. Mostly in my head. It was embarrassing. At the time I didn’t even think about how I had tried to tell them. But honestly, now I’m kind of pissed. If the south is left out of the whole solidarity movement, because we’re too backwards, and the state was essentially written off, then don’t be surprised when they don’t vote for you. Like, this movement was supposed to be different. Sorry. Totally going off. But that campaign sucked. And later it came out that they did actually suck. They didn’t have the black vote, here anyway. And it wasn’t because they couldn’t have had it. Doesn’t matter now, and Bernie maybe would have been a disaster anyway. But the doom and despair that’s now omnipresent that came with the Biden presidency.. idk. I’m not sure if anything can turn this sound now. Also, in case anyone hasn’t, check out a map of where black people live in this country. In absolute numbers or per capita. And maybe tell people to shut the fuck up when they get the urge to bash the south. Again. Sorry for the rant. I hadn’t heard anyone else acknowledge this issue before, and I got excited.

I live near the Edwardsville tornado and all I see is pieces about how Amazon is committed to helping on the fucking news.

Isidore the blue

I hope gnome Chomsky survived out there in the woods during the tornadoes

I don't believe in astrology, because I'm a Scorpio. Peace and long life to you all from Canberra, Australia. I hope the trouble doesn't get to you.

Astrology is awesome, let your flag fly. It’s helped me understand myself and my patterns better. If you want your chart read or have any questions you want answered I’d love to!

I love yall so much, I've been with you all along the way.. but as for 'Elf on a Shelf'... Elf on a Shelf is the answer to Man's search for meaning. "In a world full of nihilism. Belief is a breath of fresh air" I believe the time spent setting up my elf in various silly situations each night for my 3 year old to find in the morning is the kind of stuff that makes life worth living for me. I don't really build the idea that the Elf is watching her behavior into the myth as it seemed a little weird (She's too young to have a cop in her head.) If I got lazy I could see the potential for trauma but for now it strengthens our familial bonds and gives us both a little meaning.

Great episode. Some of what is going on with movies isn't entirely new. In the 1980s there were a bunch of 50's nostalgia films -- Stand By Me, Back to the Future, La Bamba and revivals of films from the 50s. e.g. The Thing. What's different now is the growth of the mass market overseas, especially in China. The comic book - super hero movies travel globally. Even for a movie like Dune (2021), over two-thirds of the money has been generated in overseas markets ($100 million in the US, $280 million+ internationally).

Memphians will never let you forget hurricane elvis and the ice storm of ‘94 😂

There was a storm back in the mid aughts like 2004 in Memphis that fucked up a huge part of the midtown area that we called Hurricane Elvis. 🤡
