What if the United States DID get a national divorce?
Added 2023-03-14 16:56:07 +0000 UTCRecently, U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene Tweeted that she was in support of a "national divorce," and that led to a national dialogue here in the United States. In this video, I attempt to examine what a "national divorce" in the United States would look like.
Spoiler alert- I don't think a "national divorce" is going to happen any time soon. One thing I left out was that "red states" and "blue states" change from red to blue and blue to red all the time.

I would most likely fall into the group (if it is a group) of folks who believe that we have not transitioned out of the Post-Civil War Reconstruction Era. Mr. Beat, I think the US Congress could benefit from some history and tuning into your Channel to learn the lessons from the last time we started to polarize as a county.

2023-03-15 22:15:52 +0000 UTCI wonder about this as well. The 2022 midterms showed us that now Democrats are more motivated to vote on social issues, whereas before it was Republicans more motivated to vote on social issues, imho.

A lot of republican voters only voted republican because they wanted to get rid of Roe v. Wade. now that Roe v. wade is gone the national level could change as we will see how many of those single issue voters only agreed with Republicans on that one issue. For example i bump into a lot of people here in Rural kansas that vote republican but actually like the idea of a national health care.

2023-03-15 14:06:00 +0000 UTCOne thing i think is that that solution is not devorce but Marriage counseling. At least the method used in marriage counseling to communicate. Both sides use different languages. for example when a Republican uses the word CRT they only use a part of the real meaning (the critical Theory part) the majorty of the complaint has to do with schools segregating dorms, seating, or events and kids being told that whiteness is a contracts. this is not what Democrats or colleges define as CRT. Democrats rather then having a conversation about the concerns just go "CRT isnt being tought in schools!" dismissing the republicans concerns rudely rather then having a conversation that both might even agree on if they broke it down.

2023-03-15 14:03:43 +0000 UTCMarjore Green's comment was breefly brought up and kinda teased on Dan Crinshaws podcast 1:04:00 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DG2IOchAiFE Trey Gowdey ask "were does Georga go?". i think you know but it sadens me that a lot of people dont know that Greene is treated as a joke by a lot of republicans. however i would be lieing if i didnt feel this way, if i say i didnt feel like our country should get a divorce, but ultimently the divisions are not clear cut or as big as people think. I think people like Greene are not helping those feelings but feeding off them for political gain. Crinshaws podcast also mentioned how Greene and her type blocked laws that would benefit republicans.

Iβd love to see some laws cracking down on βfor profitβ news and news companies keeping the cameras and microphones off of the partisan folks. Iβd enjoy seeing the spotlight placed back on the majority of Americans (who arenβt so politically charged).

We have reached a point where Democrats and Republicans despise each other so much that when one side gains enough power to actually do something, the other side will focus their energy into rolling it back the moment they have enough political capital. That doesnβt push our country forward.
