My parents beat me and I didn’t find that helpful or necessary. But to each their own I guess. I do see what you are saying but just don’t agree. I don’t even mind them being funny about their past beatings. I make jokes about mine too but to think that kids NEED that is just a bridge too far.

I am very anti physical punishment, but I cut them a little slack. You can't choose who your parents are. They want their childhood beatings to be perceived as 'necessary' or 'for their own good' in their minds. And none of them have kids from what I understand, which might dramatically change their position. Whatever window listening to a few dozen podcasts gives into somebody's mind, I really can't see Terrence, Tom, or Aaron hitting their own children. But yeah, for a discussion on the beating of children the episode was a little immature.

You guys are such men. That’s not a compliment. lol. I was beaten as a child and it fucked me up. I have never hit my kids and they are all good girls in their 20s. Are you serious about how to make kids listen if you can’t beat them? Damn boys, I feel like we all need a hug. My folks used used to whoop my ass too. My mom didn’t stop until I was big enough to physically prevent her from doing so. I have two kids of my own and I refuse to hit them. As a result they dunk on me all day every day. It all shakes out okay though because they’re too small and sheltered to know how money works and they really enjoy all the perks of having two gainfully employed parents. They get to feeling their Cheerios, all the sudden they don’t have a Nintendo Switch anymore and they start singing a whole different song.
