SKAM (Norway) Reaction 4x03

Comments

So life has been busy this week and I am only just now finally getting to these reactions. There was a hint to Evan having a previous relationship with Elias and Mikael in season three. Mikael was introducing Evan in the video Isak watched calling Evan his best friend. If you remember Sonja also mentioned Evan learning the Koran to Isak when Evan was having his manic episode. All of this is related and will come about again to be explained. One of the great things I love about this show is the great build ups and drops of information that happen along the way through all the seasons. Evan approaching Sana in the hall was his way of seeing what information about his history with her brother and his friends she had shared with Isak if any. I also think you missed part of Yousef’s text in your relief that he wasn’t angry, as he said, he wasn’t Muslim. This was in the text before “I don’t believe in Allah.” Like you I took this as Sana not sure if she was able to accept that, rather than her worrying about what her parents think. Despite her not going to all the Friday prayers and stuff, her faith is extremely important to her and something she is passionate about and relies on for strength and peace. I also think she’s never questioned that she would end up with a Muslim man and now she has allowed herself to care for someone believing that’s who he was only to find out he’s not. I don’t think he deceived her at all, I think she just assumed and now doesn’t know what to do with this new information. I freaking love Sana as I think she is such a strong and beautiful character.

I definitely missed Mikael first time around. There’s a lot of information given in these short episodes and it sounds like outside of the show they really provided a lot on social media etc too. Very well thought out production. I’m really bad with languages but can’t deny my love and respect for them. Well done to you for exploring it and making time to learn something new. Thanks for watching as always :) hope to see you for the next one

Great reaction as usual. You did not miss an episode. If you’ve seen the next one then you may already know this, but you have seen one of Sana’s brother’s friends before. Mikael is the guy who filmed an interview with his “best buddy” Even about the movie he was making. The video Isak found when he was trying to stalk Even on social media. It was from his old school Elvebakken. This is all info that you have seen before but it is really easy to miss or forget, especially when reading subtitles. My guess is that Elias and his friends went to Elvebakken. I don’t think it is unusual for siblings to go to different schools in Norway. You have mentioned a couple of times that you really like the language. Sorry if I’ve said this before, but if you are interested in Norwegian I highly recommend trying the Norwegian course on the Duolingo app. It’s free, and it’s a surprisingly fun way to learn a little. I haven’t looked at many of the courses on Duolingo, but the Norwegian course is generally considered one of the best. It won’t make you fluent by any stretch, but it’s a pretty good starting point. I just meant to give it a try to pick up a few conversational phrases before taking a trip there (which hasn’t happened yet thanks to Covid), but really fell in love with the language. I’m sure you just have tons of free time, but I looked at it as a replacement for candy crush, since the lessons are short and fun. And the rewards are much more valuable in the real world. ✌️
