I loved the actress that played Lily, she sold that emotion so well! I think becoming a mother has made me soft haha, forever getting emotional... Great to see more of Castiel's story! It really puts things into perspective with how far he has come. Amazing to see.

I'm speeding through so will probably only leave a few comments and they'll probably be left on the wrong episode by accident! I'm interested that you say Season 12 is getting to you because it's so much about family, because SPN has ALWAYS been about family. I don't now why it's hitting home with you now. I agree that the guest actress here is fab. Alicia Witt is a favourite of mine. I'm in two minds about this episode. There's a lot that I like about it. The Dean and Cas domestic is funny and sad. I really like that Cas stands by his decision. And Dean grumps at him but when it comes down to it, Cas is family and he's not going to let anything happen to him. As for Mary (carrying forward from last episode), I can't forgive her. She walked out on her sons. She broke Dean's heart. Amara brought her back because she was supposed to be the thing Dean needed most. Well, she's anything but. What Dean needed was for his mother never to have died. He needed her when he was growing up. Not now. And especially not this woman who is not prepared to make an effort to understand them, to get to know them as they are now, to think of others besides herself. Nah. She can get lost as far as I'm concerned. Sorry! (Love Sam Smith who plays her, though). Mary is easily one of my biggest problems with Season 12, along with BMOL. Having said all that, I do kind of like this episode (and the previous one). I loved Cas getting emotional about the boys. Sorry, I did say that in advance that my comments on Season 12 would likely be full of complaints, so feel free to ignore me! :)
