The Canadian Education Programme for Foreign Podcasters 8: Matthew Good w/ Nate Ruess
Added 2022-02-22 20:31:45 +0000 UTCNate Ruess (fun., The Format, Clayne Cast) is BACK and we are discussing Vancouver and Canada's bad boy of alternative rock: Matthew Good! From being an asshole in the late 90s and early 00s to straight up problematic today, we are taking a look at what it means to be very far up one's own ass while also only being big in Canada. We investigate how a musical artist can only get big in Canada, what it means to be an American artist touring Canada, and we learn that the songs are also still pretty good, actually. Plus we dig into Matt's "manifestos" and what it's like to think you're a smart guy in the world of rock and roll.

John started to call Kelowna douchey but pulled back. Educate me! Is it douchey? How?

I heard a couple of his songs like a decade ago because I was trying to listen to the Dead Kennedys song Moon Over Marin and found an astonishingly boring cover of it by Matthew Good, and I've been wondering who this guy was forever but also never wanted to look it up.
