Smallville Reaction - Pilot - FULL

Hey guys!

Thanks so much for supporting! I can't wait to get stuck into this, I've always been more of a TV girl than a movie girl & I hope this will spark my love for a multitude of TV shows!

The first one I decided to react to is Smallville. I loved this show back in the day. My crush on Tom Welling was insane haha. Watching this pilot filmed me with so much nostalgia - I really enjoyed it & I hope you do too! I know I haven't seen every episode of this show & i'd like to change that at some point!

I may have to set up a discord so we can all chat TV shows together haha.

Much love

Dakara x

Smallville Reaction - Pilot - FULL

Comments

You so need to watch this. LOL, I have a list of good shows to watch and this is in the top 10 for sure. You can never go wrong with superheros or star wars for guaranteed views

SORPunk

I’d genuinely love to! It’s just if the interest is there too really

DakaraJayne

Any chance you would ever react to the full show? Smallville is one of my favorite shows of all time.

Ezra

I just came across this and am ashamed of myself it took me this long to watch it lol. Smallville is one of my favorite shows. I remember being resistant to this show because it was initially described to me as "Dawson's Creek with super powers" and I wanted no part of that haha. I started watching around season 3 and really got into it then went back and caught up. It's interesting, but the pilot that you reacted to (and the one available via streaming and such) is actually edited down from the version on the DVD/Blu Ray. The scene where Clark and his father argue about the truck Lex gave them is missing a part where Jonathan explains why he hates the Luthors. Basically it involved Lionel Luthor buying a factory owned by Pete's family and cheating them out money and land in the deal. He said that the Luthors would come to town flashing fancy gifts to gain trust, and then screw them over. He assumed Lex was doing that to Clark. There's also a scene cut out at the end where Clark gets revenge on Whitney (yes a complete douche haha) by stacking the football players trucks on top of each other, with Whitney's on the very top. A little petty, but funny anyway. I also wish you'd react to the full series, but not sure if it would fall under a rewatch or not.

Never got into any superman movies or comics but my god if I didn’t ensure I caught smallville when I was a teen. Once I could watch it online I pretty much watched it at least once every year for like 5 years straight before I moved on. I just love the story, the relationship between lex and clark and the hardships of growing up which I easily related to. Wish you could react to this entire series, it is truly one of the classic greats.

:o So I made it the whole way through without MEGA denying me. Must have been an outlier with Lucifer then. Loved Smallville, but I was never into Lana & Clarke. And I think a ton of people developed crushes thanks to this show :D You're definitely my favourite reactor, I feel like the reactions are the closest to how I reacted to them. Need more Dakara in a cap though :D A discord could be fun :)

William Lawrence

What did Lana ever do to you? Hahaha. Clark and Lex 😂 I get the Lex vibes to Clark but not so much the Clark to Lex. I didn’t like Chloe and Clark, I felt bad for Chloe every time, it’s clear Clarks heart always went to Lana.

DakaraJayne

I actually can't stand Lana and found her whiny and insufferable. I always shipped Clark and Lex. LOL But realistically since the show made it clear Clark was straight I would ship Chloe and Clark. NEVER Lana. lol

BatmanFanGirl

This was one of my absolute favs back in the day. Im a big DC reader (amoung other comics) and I enjoy all the different ways I can enjoy them now including this and the CW shows 😁 Enjoy!

Shellbot

I would absolutely love it if you continued watching Smallville. Easily one of my favourite shows.

Higher Wolves

I feel like I had the same feelings of nostalgia as you when I watched Smallville over again a few years ago. I bought the box set of all the episodes. It kind of lost its spark a little after Clark was no longer in high school. The series probably should have ended there, but they kept it going for a surprisingly long time. When it did end, Smallville came out with some comic books to continue the plot line--I'm not sure if it's still going, but it wasn't all that exciting just from reading the first Smallville comic at the bookstore. The show itself gives me a lot of feels because my family used to sit down and watch every night there was a new episode. As a family, we kept up with a number of black sitcoms, Smallville, and whatever Star Trek series that happened to be on. Small towns aren't really that great, if you're not straight and white. I used to live in Alabama in a place similar to this, but it's pretty backwards socially and the neighborhoods were still largely segregated. VA is also southern, but far more urban and so not as bad. But Smallville is a fictional place and I like to imagine that it was a very welcoming, safe town as the show depicted.

IndigoSnake

Success! That’s exactly what I’d hope would happen, it had the same impact on me, I just wanted to watch more. Made me feel young again haha. I’m not sure about Allison but I think I’ll take your advice and remain oblivious. Kristen is undeniably beautiful, it actually hurts the eyes and you’re totally right about Tom haha. Although his ripped bod gets my attention every time. The lads in my high school looked nothing like that 😂

DakaraJayne

I hoped it would spark others nostalgia, so I’m happy to hear it did for you 😊 of course! I’ve noted the shows. It’ll take a long time to work through them but I wanted a large list so I could easily pick a show each week 👍 I binged I’m Not Okay With This - freakin’ loves it!!

DakaraJayne

I’d love to watch that ep too! I’ll make a note of that. Thanks Elisa :)

DakaraJayne

Me too, and they have parades and such like that here still, and something similar in the town I grew up in too.

Michele

Fringe was a great show. I'm bummed that I forgot to put it on my list.

Michele

Yes, there are places like that in the US. I live in a small town, half an hour away from a big city, and lots of farms on the other side.

Gabriel Mauller

Okay, well after some wavering I've decided to upgrade - we'll see how my finances go! Loved your reaction. Down memory lane - makes me want to binge it again too! I'm trying not to let what I know about Allison Mack interfere with my enjoyment. That's the nice thing about SPN - we know the boys are so nice IRL. I noticed certain things haven’t aged well - we criticise SPN for the occasional non PC thing, yet Lana says her dad has a “twisted sense of humour” for asking if Clark is gay. But I think the meteor shower and electricity sfx still look pretty good. Although I still find the casting for coma guy odd. He in no way looks high school age - he looks to be in his late 20s at least. But Kristen is unfeasibly beautiful (and remains so present day), but I always found Tom pretty rather than handsome with his delicate little nose!

Toasted Toad

Excellent list there Michele. Lot of good content in those shows :)

Man Of Steel

Great reaction! What a blast from the past 😊 Just updated my tier 😊 Is it ok if I give you some suggestions? I suggest Vagrant Queen, Versailles (AMAZING show but has more potential than what the pilot shows and is a bit raunchy but not too crazy!), The Good Doctor (if you haven't already), I Am Not Okay with This (which is probably on your list), Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency (SUCH a good show) and iZombie (if you haven't watched it already) 💜 Oh and Santa Clarita Diet too

Nerissa Taverner

Consider Buffy, X-Files, Daybreak (Netflix), Constantine (the Arrowverse show), Firefly, Grimm, Wynonna, His Dark Materials, Veronica Mars. I'll stop here - for now. lol

Michele

Well, this was a trip down memory lane. I remember watching this show when I was in school, more or less the same age as the main characters, and it was a hell of a journey, watching this show back in the day, going through much of the same stuff they went through, except the superpowers, obviously. (I think I even bought the first few seasons on DVD) Of course the CGI, particularly the electricity effect, hasn't aged well, but given the age of the show and that it wasn't used excessively, I think that's fine. It doesn't detract anything of note from the rest of the episode. And I agree with both of Elisa's points. I would be interested in seeing a reaction to Jensen's first episode, and I'd also love to see your reaction to the pilot of Fringe. So far I'm a fan of the Pilot concept, and I'm definitely going to keep watching. See you in the next one :)

Man Of Steel

Oooh boy. I may have quite a few suggestions. hee hee

Michele

It would be fun to watch you react to episode 4x01 of Smallville when Jensen Ackles character is introduced (I know it's not a pilot but I thought I would throw it out there anyway). As for pilot recommendations, you should check out Fringe. It's a great show!!

Elisa Ingo

You should google her and find out. She’s looking at some serious jail time.

Gabriel Mauller

Psych? I shall add that to the list :)

DakaraJayne

It was indeed, how long ago since you saw this before watching the reaction? Huh, did she? What happened?

DakaraJayne

If you are looking for more Pilots, I would recommend Psych. Good show, funny, and good chemistry between the two leads.

Gabriel Mauller

Clark getting hit by the Porsche and getting knocked in the water was intense. Was a big fan of Allison Mack, too bad she went all mental in real life.
