20min // Sun Salutation Progression!

Hello everyone,

I've got a new video for you to practice this week. It is a reasonable 20ish-minute session.

It is a classic yoga practice known as Sun Salutation, or Surya Namaskar, that will get your blood moving while establishing healthy strength and alignment or your muscles and joints.

In this video, you will have a Beginner, Intermediate, and Warrior progression.

Some key points to be aware of in the instruction guide you into stabilizing your knee by extending the leg fully in Lunge, Downward Dog, and Plank. The strength and alignment that develop from this practice carries into Warrior, so you will find more energy through your back extended leg. The power of the planted foot (whether in lunge or pada one) transfers energy through the extended knee (not hyper-extended) into alignment of the hips and core connection.

When you enter the Warrior progression, you will need that extra energy to maintain depth in the posture while following a pattern of arm movement. The strong back leg and the patter of arm movement both develop into more advanced practices!

Next, drop into a deep hip opening through Warrior lunge where you get to continue working the powerful back leg extension.

Finally, enjoy a bit of time in Malasana, yogic squat.

And then, rest comfortably on your back for Reclined Pigeon, foot rotations, and Savasana.

P.P.S. Maybe I should mention that my hair is ultra bright this week because I'm halfway through the second phase of lightening it... fingers crossed it ends up looking ultra good!
