Hello patrons and happy soon-to-be New Year!

We'd like to thank you all once again for getting us to our $2,000/month goal! The continued  support by all of you means so much to us. Stay tuned on the first for a poll on what kind of art we're going to commission based on hitting that threshold.

This month was a little less busy than the last couple of updates, both because we needed a little break after completing two storylines, and the fact a lot of our team was traveling. Still, we have some great new content for you, including two milestones that we think are exciting. Let's see what you have in store!

New Music - The Soundtrack is Complete!

Usually we put notices of new music near the bottom of these posts, mostly because it's tough to attach a screenshot to it. However, this month we wanted to give special recognition to Will's contributions as he has completed all the music for the game! All of the placeholder music has now been supplanted by final tracks. There's a possibility we might need a track we hadn't planned for, and there will definitely be some remastering down the line, but for all intents the Mice Tea soundtrack is done!

The final couple of songs include one that plays during the ending to Gavin's path, as well as a new title theme that plays during the menu screens. It's a very peaceful, soothing version of Margaret's theme that we'll bet you just want to let play for a while to soak in.

This is a great time to listen to all of Will's tracks in the music player in the Extra's Menu. Check it out and let us know if you have any favorites!

New Backgrounds - The Bar and The Mall

Heart has provided us with two new backgrounds this month, Murph and Murphy's and the New Greenshire Mall. The first is a final version while the second is a nearly completed version that's a little further along than most of the other unfinished backgrounds in the game.

This update also marks the point at which all of the game's backgrounds are Heart's. There are one or two scenes that take place in a scribbled background that will be moved to a different location, but otherwise all the backgrounds you see are by our current background artist. We think it makes a big difference in consistency and makes everything feel more holistic. 

New Art - Margaret and Gavin CG

Based on your votes earlier this month, UBF worked on the CG that first appeared in last month's update as a sketch. Like a lot of our dev team this month, UBF didn't have a full month to work on Mice Tea assets, so the CG is almost finished, but there's a lot of polish that's been added if you'd like to take a look again.

New Sound and Visuals - Expression Upgrades and Sound Effects

Something that we've been plugging away with in the background is updating the animations and expressions that accompany the action and dialogue, as well as adding sound effects during appropriate moments. It's slow work and the kind that's hard to point to big changes for these updates, but for a slower month we thought we'd highlight the contributions of Gunzil and to a lesser extent Zoe as they make their way through the game. Gunzil in particular added quite a bit this month, and while it's tough to point you toward any specific part in the game, we hope you might notice the extra effort put in if you replay a segment.
