Your explanation of learning to hear harmonic relationships was interesting...and, like the commenter, I have learned to hear such relationships far more clearly following your channel. My own musical training and abilities had always allowed me to identify certain kinds of relationships and harmonies...but what becoming more conversant in roman-numeral chord-naming and concepts like secondary dominants has done is allowed me to hear those things more clearly: not just "they went up a major third" but "they moved from I to III." And I find that, even in casual listening, I'm able to keep track of what's happening harmonically more readily. So in addition to listening (and relistening) to a lot of great tracks along with your reactions, commentary, and analysis, following you has deepened my understanding of the music I hear. Thanks! Looking forward to another year of music here.
