The last flashback was two years after Wilhelm's and Theresa's last interaction. The 9 year Demi-human Civil War ended due to a huge part to Theresia. As she was a formidable generation of Sword Saint due to two of her Divine Protections. One being the Divine Protection of the Death God, which any wound inflicted on someone by her, will never heal. The second protection is Divine Protection of the Sword Saint, which gives her inhuman intuition and insight while maximizing her latent swordsmanship talent and knowledge of combat towards a level few could reach. This resulted in allowing Theresia to break down any kind of technique or attack directed at her while simultaneously showing gaps in them for the most optimal counter. These manifest as spectral "white lines" that only she could see which are implied to be guidance from the "Sword God". However, if someone possess equal or greater skill relative to hers the lines will distort making her opponents attack paths difficult to read. Which Wilhelm eventually being among the few in this flashback. A Royal Ceremony was to be held in her favor for her achievements and to acknowledge as the Sword Saint, with people across nations came to see. If the ceremony were to be left uninterrupted, she would have definitely left with a unshakable reputation as the Sword Saint and her name would have gone down in history for eternity. Except Wilhelm suddenly appeared after two years of suddenly vanishing after their last interaction, having to have train for all those two years and was able to finally best her and take that title of Sword Saint from her, freeing her from a bondage of duty, so she was no longer bound to be something that she never wanted to be in the first place, due to mostly of the reason of not wanting to use the 'sword' to hurt others. Here you see Wilhelm taking up her duty in her stead, the reason being simply to 'protect' her. Volume 3 of Re:Zero EX: The Love Ballad of the Sword Devil, tells what all happens after that.
