End of March 2021 Monthly Update

Hello my beloved patrons! I hope you've had an incredible March and that you're feeling amazing! It's already time for March's monthly update!

It was an interesting month for the channel. We transitioned to making exclusively Dead By Daylight content (streaming and making videos). We started the month with about 590 subs and at first we lost about 40 subscribers at the beginning of the transition to DBD only content as many of the old subscribers who only liked Project Zomboid content left the channel. Fortunately people who like Dead By Daylight content started finding the channel and we quickly gained that many subscribers back and more, ending the month with a little over 640 subscribers.

I'm still figuring out the right balance as far as how often/how long to stream, as well as how many videos to put out per day. But overall, I'm pretty happy with how things are going with the channel right now. I wouldn't mind doing a little more variety and play some different games for everyone to watch but it really does seem like the youtube algorithm punishes that sort of thing. You're either a pure variety channel that dabbles in many games or a niche channel that plays a lot of one game. Perhaps some day I'll create another channel where we can do whatever we want without caring about the results.

Streaming on the channel is pretty nice by the way. It feels good being able to talk to viewers and get real-time feedback as to what you do and don't like. I do feel like sometimes I get too into Dead By Daylight and forget to try and be funny and entertaining. That's something I'm working on. Ideally I would like people to keep coming back to the channel even when they've lost interest in DBD because they know that I'll be able to give them a good laugh or have an interesting conversation. It'll take some time and practice, but over time I'll keep getting better at doing live improv while playing a game.

Oh, we hit 4000 hours of watchtime on the channel about a week ago so that's pretty exciting too!
