End of February 2021 Monthly Update

Hello my beloved patrons! I hope you're doing amazing and that you had a fantastic February! Time for another monthly update, February went by so fast!

The channel didn't grow much this month, lost some old subs, gained some new ones and overall we went from about 580 subs to about 590. This slow growth isn't surprising considering how all over the place we were content-wise. We showcased upcoming indie games, did scary games, sprinkled in a little Project Zomboid and RimWorld, and the amount of editing done for each varied quite a bit. Not a good recipe for youtube success in the modern youtube era. Youtube is very much about building your channel around the algorithm these days, which means everything needs to be targeted around a very specific target audience, with no videos deviating from that target audience.

At this point I'm kind of just throwing darts at the board hoping that something will stick. I expect March will continue to have a lot of experimentation as far as content goes but maybe we'll find a nice groove to work with early in the month. I just need to find a style that pleases current subscribers, satisfies the algorithm, and that new people to the channel will want to subscribe for. It'll take time and experimentation but hopefully we'll get there.

I'm still not sure how many videos I should put out per day but as of today, I'm currently aiming for at least one video a day.

Oh! I also made a second channel this month, specifically for just youtube shorts. Why a second channel? The algorithm of course lol. Keep the people who like short content on one channel and the people who like long content on another. People that like both can sub to both :)

That being said, I kinda stopped making the short videos pretty quickly. I need to figure out what I'm doing with the main channel I think before I get too caught up in the second channel. I'll get back to making the shorts eventually, there's a lot of potential fun to be had there once I decide what to do with it.

Anyways, that's all I can think of right now off the top of my head, so I guess we'll wrap it up here.
