2022 Wrap-Up!
Added 2022-12-22 12:47:56 +0000 UTCThe year’s end is approaching! Thought now would be a great time to post a little end-of-year update to wrap things up.
Firstly, I’d like to thank all of you who have been generous enough to support me not just this year but throughout the lifetime of my Patreon so far. I’m no Stephen King or JRR Tolkien, but am grateful for those who’ve enjoyed my content all the same, especially when it's clearly in the corner of our little community. I’m intrigued by the prospects of the future, and I have all you to thank for that!
I originally had plans for content this month, coming out of a break in November, but that changed pretty quickly. I ended up deciding to extend said break through to the new year, to come back recharged. I do hope I haven’t left anyone in suspense with waiting on promised content, but you can rest assured the new year will start strong. Glory Days & Miss Mass aren’t going anywhere, especially with them being my most active serials in a good while, so you can expect either of them to start the year off right!
That said, it wouldn’t hurt to explore some new stuff from time to time, would it? From one-offs to serials, the sky’s the limit on what you might see this coming year. Ripped Through Time, Artificial (What would the world of women's bodybuilding be like once technology becomes advanced enough to allow megacorps to make an AI FBB? What are the societal implications, etc) & Level Up are some concepts I’m eager to explore at some point in 2023. In the meantime, there are a couple of serials I’ve been itching to get back to as well, namely Eat to Grow — which only recently had its world brought closer to life with a commission by my good friend Jderril.
Speaking of commissions: seeing as I can’t draw to save myself, I’ll likely continue commissioning artists to bring characters from serials to a different medium in the new year. My most recent commission from Rombossman did rather well, so I’m sure we’ll see more from him eventually. And not just art! I’m likely going to continue audio commissions as well. AmeAfterDark did great with the Steamed Windows audio a couple of months back, and I’ve a few ways how that can be further developed in a sequel — among other ideas — in an effort to provide more themes for content that I like, but would otherwise not be able to write. Likewise, I’ll be sure to continue FMG-themed audio content with Alyssa the Comic Book Babe — whose most recent piece was Further Testing — and other VAs. As a slight disclaimer: I would love to continue working with Dorn, but she has since taken a break for the betterment of her health, which is more important than anything.
To continue the topic of commissions for a bit: over the last little while, I have been fortunate enough to be asked if I take commissions. To answer plainly, I don’t. It is something I’ve thought about in the past — I’ve even polled on the subject right here — but find the prospect of it all daunting, wondering constantly if the commissioner likes the end result after however long it takes. Granted, it’s not much different than patrons voting for what they would like to see written next, in an ongoing serial like Glory Days, but with Patreon content it’s less discouraging — even if that one person doesn’t like it, you can assume most do by them having not said anything. With commissions, if the commissioner doesn’t like what I’ve to offer, everything falls apart. I like to make sure I can give my all when writing content. Expectation is needed and a given, yes, but too much of it can cripple me. So to reiterate: I don’t offer commissions, and that probably won’t change. Sorry.
To conclude, I’d like to reiterate my thanks to you all for the continued support throughout the year. Writing this content has never been so fun than it has become in recent times. I’d love to see what the new year holds, and hope you’ll be there when it comes.
