Thoughts on exclusive spinoffs
Added 2022-10-29 12:03:55 +0000 UTCHi everyone, I hope you're all well as we quickly approach Halloween in just two days. Do you have anything planned for the occasion? Perhaps you're visiting a local haunt? No such thing like that near me, I'm afraid, so I'm out of luck.
I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on the idea of exclusive spinoff stories. I've a couple of ideas in mind for something like that, which I'm actively putting together as concept pieces. If luck stays on my side, I might actually have one out by Halloween, based on one of my most popular works freely available on Deviantart.
To keep things straight and narrow, the keyword here is 'spinoff.' I don't intend on writing exclusive sequels to stories that might already be freely available for reading on sites like Deviantart. The only exception would be if the original story were already exclusive here on Patreon.
I realize I've occasionally put Patreon content onto my Deviantart for free after some time. I'll be changing this approach when November comes around. To keep things transparent, the content will still be available on Deviantart after some exclusivity to Patreon, however, similar to how things already work here, will be walled behind a subscription tier.
To clarify, then:
- Spinoffs are Patreon-exclusive
- Sequels based on freely available content will remain free
- Sequels based on Patreon content will be Patreon-exclusive
