Level Up! [Concept]
Added 2018-11-22 20:46:31 +0000 UTCTime for yet another concept, yay!
Introducing Level Up! A gaming-themed FMG tale in gaining beef and experience and not so much about saving the princess (or is it?
Level Up! Focuses on Mandie, a not-so-typical female gamer. That’s to say, she doesn’t naturally ooze an outrageous sex appeal like the female gamers of real-life, instead, leading a particularly strange, if also unkempt life. A life that, though for some may come across as epic, she feels is a curse. You see, Mandie, quite literally, sees life as a game that she took to calling Life 1.0; when she wakes up, the first thing she sees is her health, stamina, hunger and thirst bar often expressed in survival/RPG games; she also has an own epic narrator that only she can hear; as the story progresses and she unlocks the Life 2.0 Beta, Mandie uncovers all the various hidden parameters within her bubble of a world; the Strength, Beauty, Intelligence and Luck attributes.
Mandie’s mass is reflected by her Strength attribute. When she succeeds and gains XP and Attribute Points, she can spend them as expressed in most games, either on furthering those attributes or exchanging them for abilities/skills. These can range from handstands to pushups, to squats and bench-press. These abilities/skills can themselves be improved for better performance. Want her to unlock the Muscle Transfer skill? She has to be Level 50!
As with any game, Mandie’s life will be filled with obstacles, trials and enemies for her to overcome. Speaking of enemies, Mandie will have the knowledge in knowing their respective attribute counts, giving her the (dis)advantage when “facing” them. Only she sees life as a game. Considering this is an FMG story, expect plenty of “Strength” gauges for the women, some of which might even be considerably larger than even Mandie’s.
I mentioned the inclusion of an epic narrator. In spite of being a bodiless entity, I took the liberty of naming “them” either Epic Guy or Epic Gal, depending which you’d prefer. I would hope to have some form of comedic moment between Mandie and Epic, such as if Mandie got into an argument with her mum about something and Epic quipped with ‘Mum disliked that.’ On a similar note, Mandie might often be presented with a tough (though pre-determined for the sake of a streamlined plot) decision and Epic presents her with a pop-up message containing the choices she has, timed of course, with music from Countdown playing for dramatic/comedic effect (www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2dhD9…
Relationships might be added as well, going hand-in-hand with the ‘like/dislike’ aspect mentioned above. If they are included, particular love interests may provide temporary/permanent boosts based on their characteristics/personality. For demonstration’s sake, here’s an example: provided Mandie has a love interest who’s into bodybuilding, they may provide her with a temporary/permanent increase in strength depending if the love interest is the main one or otherwise.
I’m playing around with the idea of a Morality attribute, but not sure how that would play out. Ranging from Angel to Ego Monster, Mandie’s moral compass would be reflected based on her decisions. Would she have been considered an angel in her community from her do-good actions or so focused on being OP that her ego balloons? That was the idea, but the fact is I wouldn’t be lying if I said I’d be biased and have her go Ego.
The character list is as follows:
Mandie
Epic Guy/Gal (Let me know what you prefer)
Mum (Nameless for the reason that Epic would have her labeled as ‘Mum’ in a separate message pop-up box; not implying there will be one. Besides, Mandie would call her by ‘Mum’ anyway)
Dad (Same as Mum)
Markus (Mandie’s brother)
Mckenzie (pro gamer; potential antagonist)
