Added 2022-04-12 05:57:41 +0000 UTCIn Sumerian mythology, the Goddess of War and Love was Ishtar - but as time went on and the Sumerian beliefs fell by the wayside, she became associated with the myth of Lilith, and was described as deteriorating to vampiric half owls that consumed children and spawned demons. Her statues were reinterpreted as demonic and most were torn down or buried. I like to think that somewhere deep in that bird thing is the shadow of one of the most primal goddesses and with a little respect and honor she could begin to change back.
Heh, this is kind of an abandoned attempt at depicting her - I think this version looks far more Hindi than Sumerian and ends up looking like a feminine version of Garuda. I still think it's a good image, and I finished it for that reason, but it wasn't the being I was aiming for so she will be revamped in the future!
