I thought some of you might find how I deal with color for a comic that is very much not in color interesting. I like to grab inspiration from pallets on the website Coolors, and then I kind of mix them up in a way that I think looks nice. Right now I’m just blocking out basic colors on the page, and then I’m going to go in and add more intricate values/hues to make the characters pop out a bit more.
I still like to keep the colors relatively simple and limited because color printing was pretty limited in the mid to late 20th century with newspaper comics, and as you all know I like to take inspiration from some of those vintage comic strips. Lining took forever on this one, and coloring is my favorite step!
