The story of Red
Added 2023-04-27 08:30:00 +0000 UTCSeveral years ago someone I know was trying to get an online magazine off the ground. Each issue had a theme and this shoot was the my submission for the magazine. The theme was red and I decided to explore the moods and feelings that Red embodies.
Red to me invokes feelings of lust, passion, anger, fire, rage and heat. I called up one of my earlier models Kieren to be a part of it knowing that he doesn't really have many boundaries in terms of modesty or sexuality. An friend from America was also here and has as few boundaries so I knew they'd be a great team.
For the shoot I used a darker red to paint almost tribal, blood-like markings on their body as if they were two warriors fighting for dominance and passion. Looking back on some of these old body paint shoots I really do need to slow down and take my time with them but for this one I don't think it is too much of an issue that they are a bit rough around the edges.
It was very interesting that the American friend describes himself as a bit of a dominant top sexually but when it came to the dynamic between the two of them, he was the one arching his back and being much more submissive. Kieren does have a bit of a dominant vibe though so I get it.
This would have been a great shoot to film a behind the scenes video but alas, we didn't do that.
