How we danced at dawn

I know Covid threw us all out of rhythm and there are essentially two years that nothing was particularly normal but it still catches me off guard when I realise how long ago a shoot was. This shoot was from 2018.

Tim was back in town for Mardi Gras and Josh who I'd never met but had spoken about a shoot was also in town for Mardi Gras. They were both only here for one weekend so that was the weekend we had to shoot. That also meant that it was probably the Saturday since the Sunday they might still have been out partying.

I pitched the idea of shooting the two of them together which is always a risky challenge if they've never met but as you can see it really worked. Josh was a bit nervous about his dancing skills but this was not a shoot about dancing. It's called Dancing at Dawn because there were several poses that looked like they were but all of it was pretty static.

The lighting was a little bit more harsh than I would like but it added a golden hue and an air of potential to the shoot. Considering the two had never met before that morning I put them in some quite intimate poses but they didn't complain.

My shoots are fairly fast and relaxed. It wasn't too long before they had to get dressed again and I dropped them off so they could rest up to party all night.

Sadly I haven't had the opportunity to work with either of them again. Fingers crossed that changes. See the full download of Dancing at Dawn here.
