The frustrations

The photography world I find myself in is a little strange at times. It isn't lost on me that it's not that common to be asking people to take their clothes off to take photos and sometimes people's circumstances change after a shoot.

Recently I had a model ask me to remove his shoots. He said they were hurting his dating life which I say is rubbish. After going backwards and forwards with him over a couple of hours it was agreed that the images would be deleted from Instagram but the downloads wouldn't be removed from here or my website, and I promised not to promote them.

For a model to say the shoots might make the guy he's interested look at him in a different way makes me mad. Firstly, changing yourself or hiding something in your past that is not at all shameful for someone means they don't accept you fully for who you are. Secondly, the photos we did were beautiful, simple and very tasteful. Saying they would change the way someone thinks of the person in them implies that I'm taking photos that people should be ashamed of.

Now, this model is very insecure and through the shoot and editing process was very critical of himself and his looks so I think he's just projecting his insecurities about himself and his self worth onto my photos of him. I'm trying not to judge him too harshly but this one has really pushed my buttons.
