The story behind Jungle Boys

Nearly three years ago I released the download Jungle Boys. It was very nearly a shoot that didn't happen. I'd photographed Lucas a bunch of times before but had never photographed Myles. On the morning of the shoot, where we were planning a bit of a drive to the location I woke up to pretty rubbish weather. Myles was the first one I collected and as we drove to collect Lucas we were both a bit apprehensive about the rain. Lucas on the other hand was determined to do the shoot and managed to convince us to persevere and boy am I glad he did.

By the time we drove the 45+ min to start walking down to the beach, the rain had stopped and the lighting was absolutely perfect. We spent about an hour in a clearing with this fallen tree and palm fronts. Interestingly Lucas is the only model I've worked with who puts on a modesty patch to cover his junk and that influenced Myles who did the same on this shoot.

After the initial spot in the clearing we made our way down further along the trail where the boys posed on a huge fallen tree across a small creek, then we finished off shooting on and behind the beach itself, which happens to be the same beach as Nathan's shoot in Beach Days.
