After so many years with a modest online presence, firstly through my old blog and now with my photography, I really shouldn't be surprised by some of the messages I get. By far the majority of my messages and comments are supportive and lovely but there will always be a small and vocal number of people who seem to project their fantasies, fetishes and assumptions onto my work.
Just yesterday I posted a photo of myself and my model on the beach after a quick swim at the end of the shoot, we were both nude from behind but it was instagram friendly. Someone straight up said he hoped we f*cked. Seriously? Of course he accused me of being precious when I called him out on it, but a quick block fixed that problem.
There are times when I get perfectly harmless comments that give an insight into what the commenter is into. What for me will be a photo all about the landscape, the model and the lighting all coming together will get a comment about the model's feet and how sexy they are or something like that.
I'm also intrigued at how passionate some people are about cut or uncut appendages.
Of course there will always be people who want more. Why isn't the model going full frontal? If he is, why isn't he erect? If he is, why isn't he being intimate with another guy? Why isn't the camera deep inside the model?
It never stops intriguing me.
