Early influences...

You could say I've been in a kind of "mood" this week and it's seen me revisit some old favourite "cinema" for some quiet moments alone, if you know what I mean.

It got me thinking, did the stars of the 80's and 90's era "cinema" influence my taste in men, or was my taste in men influencing what I watched? Who will ever know but I do know that I've always been into the clean cut boy next door types who grew up really nicely. The 80's and 90's stars were very much about a smooth muscular aesthetic which is still very much a favourite to this day for me.

Ken Ryker and Hal Rockland were the biggest names and appendages of the era and Aussie Brad Patton wasn't far behind. Hal's career seemed to come to an end shortly after doing a film "three brothers" with his two real life brothers. They didn't touch each other but it certainly didn't hurt my fantasies.

Photographically speaking these days I do tend to these kind of guys, if not as beefcake muscular but mostly smooth and athletic is where I find my happy place.

Comments

Ryker in the Colt photoshoot was everything. Hal was my least favorite and also the least prolific of the brothers. I can't believe Three Brothers is not on special edition remastered DVD. Changed my life.

Adam Dunn

My favorite from this era was John Pruitt.
