When it goes all wrong

For all the photo shoots that I've loved the results, there are a few that just haven't worked. The photo above is just a hilarious outtake from a shoot that was decent but there are entire shoots that have never seen the light of day.

One shoot was a few months in the making, but on the day the light was just not good and as a result the poor model was squinting or in horrible shadows so it was abandoned. During this recent lockdown I was going through the archives working out how I might fill a gap in output waiting for freedom and thought I'd just forgotten about a shoot completely that was in the archives. Nope. Going through the photos I remembered the issues.

While the model wasn't in bad shape, he wasn't in the shape that his instagram account had suggested but that wasn't the real issue. The issue was that he was a blinker. I would say in at least half of the images his eyes were closed or half closed. It meant there just weren't enough good photos to create a download.

I hate to discard a shoot but it does happen from time to time. It makes me feel guilty for the model giving up their time with nothing to show for it but sometimes it's just unavoidable.

Shane, the poor model in the photo above was just caught unawares by a rogue wave, as was I. But the photo does make me laugh.
