Back on the 1st of November 2009 I did my first ever studio photo shoot. Was I terrified? Absolutely. I had four guys lined up one after the other to do shoots. Some of them were more successful than others. This man, Brad, had messaged me through my blog and expressed an interest in posing for me. Brad had done a shoot with a fitness photographer back home in Canada and never received the photos which is something that happens but I don't understand.
As you can see, Brad has a rather spectacular body so I was very keen to work with him. Working with a very simple lighting set up we set about seeing what we could come up with. This kind of simple lighting has become my trademark, borne from a lack of knowledge but it has worked well for me.
The image with his head wrapped in fabric was a completely random idea that I had. I'd bought the fabric to see what we could do and at one point I asked Brad if he minded if I wrapped his head. He said no and one of my most well known images was born.
We are still in touch from time to time and a couple of years ago we actually were talking about doing a shoot for the tenth anniversary of this shoot but sadly it never came to be. I'm very glad that Brad trusted someone he'd never met, not to make him look stupid.
