Self portraits are a terrifying prospect. They have been a part of art history for centuries and some artists are very comfortable with them. I am not one of those artists. Last year I embarked on the journey of working on self portraits to eventually include in a download full of the damn things. That was supposed to mark my 100th download and since I've just shared #124 on here that should be an indication of how successful that was.
Covid hit and even though I had a bit more time to work on them, I didn't have as many options for location as we went in to lockdown and by the time we were allowed out again I had put on a bunch of weight and it was now cold and not conducive to outdoor nudity.
In the few that I did, some friends commented that they were way too serious and not the "real me". That I will definitely agree with. Taking my own photo usually results in a very serious face of concentration. It's a tough technical process so remembering to be "me" is tough.
It's time to start thinking about it again though so I'm putting it out to you guys, some who know a bit more than others about me, what do you expect to see in a self portrait of me? Please be respectful and keep it nice.
