Sometimes I worry that I don't have a "signature" style. There are photographers I know that manage to shoot with consistent lighting or vibes throughout all of their shoots. I keep trying things that are a bit different because I get bored easily. Sure, most of my studio work has similar lighting and most of my outdoor has a similar feel but the two are quite different to each other.
This shoot with Greg and Kane was something a bit weird that I wanted to try. I don't know why I wanted to do this but I did. Some viewers were quite unnerved by this shoot as to them it looked like two bodies under a sheet in the morgue. Am I thrilled with the result? Not entirely but I like that I tried something a bit left field.
The true difficulty in this shoot was I couldn't shoot down from directly above. In my dream studio that I will set up one day when I'm rich, I'll have rigging of some description to allow vertical shots from above or below.
Editing this series was done before I was as confident with the software. Looking at the layered photoshop files as I write this, what took about 5 steps at the time could be achieved in one or two now that I have more experience but that's the good thing about experience. In the editing the warm flesh tones coming through the wet fabric were really cooled down and a general blue tone was added to the whole shot as well as a lot more contrast. I'd be interested to try something like this again, possibly choosing different fabric.
