Wrestling lovers
Added 2020-10-06 08:23:17 +0000 UTCBack in 2009 I received an email through my (now-defunct) blog from a reader also in Sydney. He and his partner were keen to put themselves forward to model for me so I went round to their place one day to chat to them and we decided on a wrestling theme to start with. The location proved to be the sticking point on this shoot.
We had decided to try and do the shoot down in the sand dunes in a southern Sydney suburb called Kurnell. What we hadn't budgeted on was that the big open sand dunes were very popular for personal training group sessions and football teams to run up and down. Even early in the morning the dunes were teaming with people who most likely wouldn't want to witness two naked gay men wrestle.
Fortunately there were areas over the hill where we would find some privacy for the shoot away from the crowds. These two guys have gone on to become good mates and it wasn't the last time they have been nude for my camera.
This was a challenging shoot in that I'm not wildly experienced in photographing movement and these guys, when they were wrestling were not posing. They really went for it so it was all I could do to keep up.
