For every success

I have often said I don't think I want to chase photography as a full time career and recently I've been reminded why. Photography is a real passion for mine but since starting to sell downloads and making a little bit of an income from it, at times I have found myself shooting things when I haven't really felt it.

I recently photographed a guy that was very, very keen. He'd found me on Instagram and he's a lovely guy and fairly good looking. Good looking enough that I agreed. On the day we shot I didn't really have a lot of time and it just didn't feel right. Ask any creative, as much as we doubt ourselves (which is a lot) we can often feel when it's going well. To the point when I've been giggling with excitement that a shoot is going so well. Unfortunately this wasn't one of them. I have had to email the model and let him know that I will send him what photos I can but there won't be a download of the photos released sadly.

It was nothing about the model in particular but the shoot just didn't work. There is a certain standard that I have to keep and this shoot just didn't hit the mark.

For clarity, the image above is NOT from the shoot that I'm writing about. That is a desktop wallpaper of my friend and four-time model, Tom. This was our second shoot and it went very well.

For every success
