Timothy is an Australian guy living and working in Sweden but just over four years ago he was back in Australia visiting his family. We'd been chatting for a while on Instagram and he'd been dabbling in posing for photographers and artists so we made plans for a shoot.
Of course it was another up-early kind of shoot to get the best light. We were blessed with some haze on the horizon which kept the light beautiful and soft. Timothy was pretending to throw that paper plane for a good twenty minutes with me running around on the rocks trying my best to get the perfect angle. Needless to say there were several shots where Timothy's modesty was not preserved as much as he would have liked so they did not make the cut.
This shoot and many others were done before I started selling downloads so I approached them with the goal of achieving a handful of strong images. It makes the prospect of faking things and doing more post production a bit more appealing. If I'd had to retouch paper planes in to 30-40 shots, I may never have got around to it. As it was someone actually asked how I managed to time all the paper planes going past at the right time. Um... Photoshop.
I did do a second shoot with Timothy nearly two years later but I wasn't happy with the results. it was a similar vibe but less successful. Maybe I should go back and have another look at it.
