Way back in 2007 there was a beautiful and delightful Dutch boy called Rick living here in Australia. I honestly can't remember how we met but I know that Rick was quite happy to do a photo shoot for me.
I still wasn't sure about how to direct models but between the two of us we got some good shots. Looking through the images tonight to do this post I realised that I hadn't quite learnt to settle on a colour treatment and use it for the whole shoot. Instead there are some shots edited in a quite cool way like the photo on the left. There are several in black and white and a few quite warm golden shots like the one on the left.
Rick is a natural in front of the camera too. Sometimes models who haven't posed much before can look a bit scared or blank in the face but Rick always looked comfortable and relaxed, quite often with a smile about to break across his face.
Clearly my photoshop skills weren't up to what they are now either since I obviously decided not to try and get rid of the big bruise on Rick's leg in the centre photo. It's taken me a long time to get to where I am with photography. Like everyone there is still a lot to learn but looking back at some of these old shoots, it's a reminder of how far I've come.
