Three years after my first male nude photo shoot I photographed the gorgeous and very sweet Patrick. I was still very much learning about how to direct models but Patrick was a dream to photograph. Not only does he represent the sun kissed surfer boy look that I grew up around but he was patient, enthusiastic and obviously a beautiful human.
Looking back at my early shoots I had no idea what I was doing but there are shoots like this one that I still stand by and really quite like. I might edit the photos differently if I was doing this shoot now but they represent where my skills were at in 2007 when I took them.
The shadows, and the images in general are a bit darker than I would like with my current tastes but there is a moodiness that I seem to naturally gravitate towards, even still.
Poor Patrick was climbing up on to a rock right near the start of the shoot and slipped grazing both his shins. The trooper that he was, he had no hesitation in finishing the shoot for which I'm very grateful.
