Shipwrecked - Download

It's taken me quite a long time to get more confident about asking guys to model for me. This shoot is the result of one of the times when I just jumped in and asked. Timothy is a dancer from Brisbane and I had seen him on Instagram and sent him a message asking if he'd be interested in working together if he was ever coming to Sydney. Lo and behold he was coming to Sydney about three weeks after I messaged.

Another early morning shoot, I picked Timothy up from where he was staying and we headed to Lady Bay nude beach just inside the southern side of Sydney Harbour. I had a white chair with me which I'll discuss in another post but it came in handy at the end of the shoot.

Being a dancer, Timothy is very in control of his body and aware of how to move it and what shapes are going to look good. He also has some of the most soulful eyes I've ever photographed.

1. You don't think his eyes are soulful? To me when you look in his eyes, there's a lot going on. 2. Everyone can interpret my photography they way they see fit. I thought Shipwrecked felt right. Do you need wreckage on the beach to see it? 3. My work isn't porn. Some shoots don't need full frontal. My models also have their own boundaries. 4. Editing is my own choice. I don't like super retouched, "Hollywood" looking photos.

I enjoyed the last six photos the best I think. May I ask some thought questions? 1) What makes soulful eyes soulful? 2) If this series wasn't titled, "shipwrecked" would I get that idea from these images? Not sure... 3) Whose inhibitions resulted in the avoidance of full frontal images? 4) How do you determine how much editing to do on the images?
