Oh Awesome of the Lake, give us your wisdom? I was desperately dissapointed that it's Battletech Gothic, not Battlefleet gothic. (I hope they do have fun with AUs, it's kinda cool actually) On the rest of the horrorshow that is real life, from across the pond, listening to your realistic, pessimistic optimism really is a heartwarming hurt. I think it speaks to me with the personal experience of being a trans person in a place where we are increasingly made vulnerable, and the only thing we can do is hold together, and hold fast. Your focus on community building and mutual help is the way to go. The focus on being the friend and community, and help for others, that you need for yourself is how we grow and support each other. It echoes in my mind what we did in the AIDS Pandemic as a community. Be kind to one another, we are all walking wounded, and no one gets out alive. Thank you for what you do outside of the fun mech based future stuff, everything else is so important.

Hey Tex save voice if needed. As I am packing up preparing to travel to Adepticon (I will ask Catalyst Games if you are there) and wanted to drop a line. Taking my boys to play battletech all weekend and they are psyched for it. Just saw the battletech Gothic thing and meh not my cup of tea. To each their own. Curious if you had any thoughts on the alternate universe. Loved watching your megamek game (even if I lost my goob on it) and it finally got me to figure out how to play it and having a blast. So question how would you create a battletech computer game that had co-op in it? Keep swinging Tex. PS I forgot to mention one of the leaked pictures seems to be a redone Succession War board game that I own and still get out to play every once in a while. Was that a game you ever played?

Czarvak

Save voice, Tex. Glad you’re hanging tough. Just remember to proverbially put on your own mask before helping others. You do a lot of good work that helps a lot of people and provides a living to many. Without you that goes away, so focus on your own well being. Totally random topic today, so strap in. I know that the era of quality AAA games is mostly in the rearview at this point. Seems like most games are incomplete when sold with the missing pieces ready to be sold as DLC (looking at you Civilization VII) and/or a greater focus on social messaging and virtue signaling at the expense of making a good game with solid plot and gameplay (looking at you Dragon Age Veilguard). There is one game in development that has caught my attention and wanted to ask if you’ve seen or heard of it. It’s called “Exodus” and it’s made my a bunch of former Mass Effect talent who left BioWare at the end of ME3, created their own company called Archetype Entertainment and it’s meant to be a kind of spiritual successor. From the gameplay and cinematic trailers, color me very intrigued and it just seems to have that special spark with story and universe depth that I can tell has been done with love and care. I hope I am not wrong but I got a good feeling.

MrToBeNamedLater

Hey bud. I’m glad to hear you’re sticking it out. I definitely agree with you on how crazy the world has gotten politically. I remember a time when two people could vote for different candidates and still go out for drinks later as brothers. Now days it feels like the everyone just wants to fight. (Hell even I’ve fallen into that trap more than a few times). I think that’s why Battletech really grew on me. But in a weird way it kinda comforts me because even in that setting people eventually came back together to fight a common enemy. (Listening to the Kerensky speech you guys had George Ledoux do for the video still gets me every time). For everything there is a season. This is just the shitty season is all. Thank you for making this content and for giving us all something to look forward too. PS Battletech is growing in popularity to the point where even in my podunk town of (redacted) there’s groups who are forming who all heard of you and got back into the hobbie because of your videos. It might not seem it at times but you are making a difference. Keep on keeping on bud.

Howdy Tex, hope work isn't too much of a pain in the ass. Been getting more and more into the tabletop thanks to things like megamek and wondered what your favorite underrated mechs are. Mine would be the Shadowhawk because while the base line model (2H) has its weapons allover the place, its a good template for a mech you could make do just about anything just by replacing one (or more) of its weapon systems. Plus the 5R is a fun thunderbolt boat. Honestly deserves to have an omnimek variant (omni-hawk), which leads to another question of what mech do you think should of had an omni variant?

Hi Tex, please save voice. At the risk of sounding repetitive in my praise, I do really like the Intermission episodes of the podcast too - thanks to Digs for doing a great job! I have to admit, you two mentioning how you recognized you're both Jewish made me imagine a Mel Brooks-like scene with 2 orthodox Jewish guys, black hats and beards and all, being oblivious of each other being Jewish until they mention the guilt thing, and then going 'oh, wait, YOU'RE Jewish too?!' Entirely unrelated, I just found out some friends I long lost contact with have been rebuilding the community around Starsiege, the game that was once my introduction to online gaming, at the Starsiege Compendium Project and the now-revived starsiegeplayers.com , which was once the official Dynamix-run forums. It's still a bit bare-bones, but I'm really happy to see old friends resurrect that which we loved so much, some 20 years later, much in the same way how you and the BPL strive to retain the spirit of the internet we once loved. In retrospect, maybe our national motto isn't all that bad Je Maintiendrai - I will maintain. Maybe I should've paid heed to that a bit more.

Question Mr. Tex, did you ever play the Succession Wars board game for Battletech? I did, and my favorite story was the time we played (5 of us) over a whole 3 day weekend while in high school. It is quite literally a game of stalemate. Win some territory? Awesome, but because moving ground pounders to hold the newly gained territory are so hard to move, you usually lost your well planned winning attack. We ended up using the game as an overmap for Battleforce and then fighting it out on maps rather than just hoping to roll a set number. Been a fan for years, take care of yourself because if you don't, you can't care for others, took me years to learn that. Doesn't mean be navel gazer and self centered twat, but make sure you are in a good place to be able to help. I am a Den leader for a Cub Scout pack and helping those kids learn skills and pass along hard won knowledge about life and how to be self sufficient makes me feel better and do some good. Helps that my daughter has really gone big on it and loves it, she learned that she loves camping which makes me happy. All I can say is, keep doing good, keep putting good out there, and those of us who can and have the will too will follow by doing what good we can. An hour or two a week volunteering in some capacity can do a world of good for yourself and others.

I'm listening to the newest episode of the Intermission podcast (great job by the way, for all of u) and I got to the part where ur talking about u going to a random town in America with $500k and u said you'd rent the Astordome. Honestly if/when that ever happens, having a TTBT episode aire there would be awesome! I'd pay good money for something like that. Anyway, beyond the fanboying, I hope u and the team are doing well and I'm looking forward to more great videos

MaezHughes

thanks, and your welcome Tex. Yes im giving you money, because I like what you are doing. That's reason enough for my entertainment dollar.

Good evening Mr. Tex. My dog loved the Internet headpats. Don't actually have anything to say. Looking forward to the next Traveler episode. I hope you have a good week. Stay safe out there.

I stumbled across a corollary to “Some times good enough hardware is good enough” that I think you might appreciate: “In the end, if you change the enemy enough, if you wear them down, perhaps losing is good enough.” - Dead Astronauts by Jeff Vandermeer

HAHAHAHAHA, so I was typing a comment while listening to the update, the update was done playing and switched to another track and completely deleted the comment I was writing....oh well....I will summerize....creation fuels the soul, it is really what keeps me going mentally a lot of days....with unions, I'm very biased, I'm a part of the letter carrier's union and my feelings are people (generally) who are against unions have not worked a job where it is needed to keep employees safe. Cheers Tex, this cup of coffee is in honor of you! Also just listened to "The Intermission part 1" in regards to creating for money...I couldn't monetize my fun...Ivebtried explaining this to people before and my hobbies are where I retreat to to recharge...if its my job, its not a hobby and at some point in time I'd start hating it because I've violated the spirit of the thing

I'm not sure if this was an editing choice or not, but this episode sounds distinctly like a radio show, it's pretty cool.

[Save Voice as Necessary] If it helps contrast things going around, I recently helped a guy in my local gaming group paint his first miniatures. The funny thing is he got like 6 guys painted to his satisfaction while I didn't get more than 80% done with the Wraith I did in Atrean Dragoons colors. Also, If you were impressed by the Woodman's frozen pizza sections, you should see all the cheese.

Hey Tex, (Voice reminder) This week I got lucky. We have a bring and buy twice a year at our club and I was able to score the full Alien v Predator, the Hunt begins set with all the extra minis and expansions as well as a whole stack of Battletech maps somebody had scored some years earlier hoping to use them and never did. Next week the seed I planted a few months ago when the players ran into some super snooty Smoke Jaguaress on Turtle Bay is going to pay off when they are sent to Luthien alongside the Dragoons and the Hounds and happen to run into that lady and their thirst for veng- I mean their thirst for justice leads them to bump into a guy in a Phoenix Hawk having a bit of tense Sergio Leone standoff with a Grand Dragon just as the Nova Cats are charging down the valley to go flatten the Imperial City. I front-loaded the game with so much lore and ideas it's all popping out and with a new player who is also savvy to the lore, it's going to be a delight to unroll each secret like they have the half-sister of Sun Tzu Liao in their ranks, Gideon the last SLDF inheritor of the Gunslinger program with a pretty shady history with the Death Commandos AND Comstar, one player's vendetta against Morgan Kell etc. It helps to keep me sane.

I knew things were Temporary when some radio jock in the 90s asked us to name five Pharaohs. Ever since then I've focused on what matters to *me*, whether history will recognize those things or not. You are welcome, Tex, and of course you can complain about work. I stick with Civ 4, not because I'm casual, but because I could never win at 5. Not so much a casual as an old foagie who sticks with what he's used to.

Just played my first Colonial Marines 14 game with the BPL. Threw a box of flares, the got acid spit on and flamethrowered. Would die horribly again. GO DELTA!

Thanks Tex!

1st Save voice, IDK if this is the right place for this but I must thank you, Tex, my son and I have been playing alpha strike he fields 5 Urbies in city defense game that I have not been able in the past year, to beat him... After discovering your channel I've turned in my mad cats and now run 3 hunchbacks and a charger, I've crushed him twice, thank you for helping me to dunk hard on an 11 yr old... Ps now that his mom has kicked me out do you have any tips on sleeping in a charger A1? Asking for a friend...

Nowisthewinterofourdiscord

Hey Tex, Perun is how I was introduced to the BPL and I'm forever grateful. My question is of all the ships you created in UAD which was your favorite and why? I will admit I became extremely invested in the adventures of the good ship Habsburg by the end. Stay awesome!

Hey Tex no question this week but I will say my Mr. Tran has been defeated they close down the rail line and seems to be moving somewhere else. So hopefully your Mr. Tran will be defeated some time in the future.
