Comic Process - Possum Scream

I had a flip through my notebook and noticed this and thought some of you might find it interesting if I shared a little about my comics process! Specifically for this comic

I don't use scripts or any kind of formal system for planning comics because I feel like if I'm too confined to a thing then the thing won't turn out as good! it's very much a feeling rather than anything I can quantify, but I tend to think if I spend too long on something or stick too close to its original brief then it will come out overworked and dry.

so! the beginnings of my comics almost always look like this! a few barely recognisable squares that mostly just have shorthand for where the characters are going to be placed, vague notions of what their facial expressions will look like, and some thoughts about dialog jotted next to them in the world's best handwriting - mine.

as a testament to how much I hate stickin to my original ideas, you can see that originally the possum was supposed to have mathematical equations around their head like that "thinking really hard about the shit someone said" meme, and originally they both said BWAH like Hank Hill instead of AAAAA.

hope that was interestin to some of ya! god I miss drawin comics on the reg, I gotta fit 'em in my schedule again! or, hey, if you want a comic commission: you know where to find me >:3
