Oroya doodle! Today (July 24th) happens to be her birthday. Here is some new Oroya backstory:

The strings of Oroya’s guitar hummed under her fingers, the notes raw but unremarkable, blending into the smoky haze of the underground metal club. Her skill wasn’t what set her apart in the virtuoso-saturated world of the metal scene. Even her goat-like eyes and horns that curled back like snakes on her head were practically commonplace in LA bars. No, it was something deeper, something she couldn’t control. Oroya was a demon raised by a human. She wore that fact like a badge, unashamed, defiant, even as she chased the stage of a world that would rather see her destroyed for it.

Back in her dusty Texas hometown, where she’d been the only demon for miles, her red skin and horns were enough to make her a sort of local celebrity. To them, demons were something only on TV or in far-off cities. The warm plains and quiet nights had sheltered her, letting her human father's love shape her without judgment. But now, Los Angeles loomed just a heartbeat away, its neon pulse and sprawling chaos a stark contrast to the open skies she’d known. LA was the beating heart of demon culture, a place where anti-human sentiment festered unchecked, a venom that coursed through the city’s veins. Here, Oroya was a stranger among her own kind, naïve to the unspoken rules that governed all demons.

Knowing glances from demons with sharper horns and colder eyes than hers, urged her to bury her past. “bootlicker,” they’d hiss, their voices low, as if her human upbringing were a stain to be scrubbed clean. Even her bandmates, Bejel and Mala, weren’t shy about sneering at humans. It may have been the one thing the pair shared in common. As for BB, the drummer, she was a quiet enigma. Her typical silence neither condemning nor defending. Whatever the status quo happened to be at the time, BB would be the last to break it.

Oroya, always stubborn in the face of adversity, wouldn’t lie about her human father just to fit the mold of LA’s demon enclaves. She chose honesty instead, standing tall in a world that demanded deception.

*In addition to the usual weekly line-art and color art, I will be including bonus sketches! These sketches are just a bit of fun/practice and (probably) won't progress past the sketch stage. *
