"Knife, Knife, Knife" Backstage

Well, this time, I decided on the concept of "Rock in Kikuo-style" and made it.

The story behind this song is that one day I received an e-mail from a singer's office asking me to produce a song.

I was taking a bath at that time, so "I often come up with songs in the bathtub," I said, "and here's a rough recording of me singing it out loud in the bathtub!" I replied within an hour or so of receiving the e-mail, but I guess I was recognized as a bad guy, because I did not receive a reply after the second e-mail, and the song was put on hold.

Rock music is my weakest genre. Especially, electric guitar is the most difficult to handle.

For example, with folk instruments such as gamelan, people are not used to listening to them, but with electric guitar and rock, there are too many performers and listeners, and everyone has a good ear.

This is a higher hurdle to overcome than I can imagine. Really high. For now, I started by searching around from songs to performance videos.

Of course, I also listened to a lot of VocaRock. I am ashamed to say that I had never listened of the VocaRock genre at all, so everything was new to me, but the lyrics of "Roki" in particular really stuck out to me, and I was astonished.

I didn't know Vocaloids and human singing could live together in symbiosis. What are these lyrics from the creator's perspective? Stop it, stop it, it's so bloody piercing my heart.

Also, I'm a newbie who's been watching a lot of VTubers because of the clipping videos, and this one is so cool I'm blown away.

When I listen carefully to the guitar phrases, every single one of them is super cool and of a high level. Red Ocean?

I expect that the world of rock, or rather VocaRock, probably has a crazy number of people who put in guitar phrases at this high level.

I tried to imitate this cool chugging guitar feeling myself, but.... Something is different. The sound doesn't seem heavy enough for the lyrics. It's an urban and light image.

And the more I looked into it, the more I found...

At about 12:00~, the guitar part takes a whole day to record 2000 takes of each note, and then cut and paste them together. It's crazy how much progress can be made in just one day.

They are making every single note of this cool guitar phrase by cutting and pasting material from internet...what is it with these people!

They are all into electric guitars. Don't raise the bar so high. It's obvious that the level of this area is rising like a monster, and it's scary. Isn't it too much of a red ocean? Am I trying to cut into this world with a shinai (bamboo sword) as opposed to a serious sword? Both creators and listeners have a ridiculously good ear when it comes to electric guitar.

Moreover, rock is a genre that I'm not particularly good at, and I have a long history of failure and trauma. Oh, this is bad.

It's impossible to go head-to-head with these monsters. I'm still aiming for "Kikuo-style" rock! It's not rock, but rather, it's my own expression, incorporating the sound of rock. With dignity! Now to the great labyrinth of trial and error with no right answer....

I need to get the songs up before the gig! Since I was proceeding with this project, I had to give Daisuke Nishijima (Artwork) the song as soon as possible, so I asked him to throw in the sound source, lyrics, and concept text, which was very much in the process of being produced.

I am amazed that he accepted my request. Thank you very much for his godly response.

Sing by Miku Sweet again. I think that when a vocalist with a small and cute voice sings with a lot of energy, it creates such a good quality.
