Dwarven Fortress

In a clearing between the rolling, pine-crested mountain ridges, a monolithic bearded stone head rises up from the valley. Stairs are chiseled into a pipe within the figure's mouth, ascending to a pair of imposing double doors. Smoke bellows out from the hollows of the eyes and ears, mingling seamlessly with the mountain's fog. A massive stone fist rises from above the figure's crown, holding an imposing hammer fashioned of the same granite.

A big thanks goes out to James' RPG Art for collaborating on this release!

Hey folks,

I'm really excited to share this one, and to have the opportunity to collaborate with an artist whose work has supplemented my own campaigns for the last few years. James was kind enough to paint the above scene to correspond with this map, and included within the patron links are his pieces with variants and animations!

A word from James for those of you unfamiliar with his work:

Hey! I'm James, a concept artist and digital painter who has a great passion for running and playing a wide variety of role-playing games. I have created animated scenes for many locations in Wizards of the Coast official adventures and in addition many of my own personal world locations.

You can browse and download entire list of locations so far from my website jamesrpgart.com. This is the best place to view and access my work.

I myself use these as a great way to set the scene and immerse my players into the world. I know that other Game Masters and players could do the same. In addition to using these for Curse of Strahd, a creative GM could use these as inspiration for a unique location in any home brew game.

Additionally, I'm launching a Kickstarter filled with 60 animated scenes to bring your Curse of Strahd campaigns to life. Show your players Ravenloft in glorious detail with this revamped collection of beautiful fantasy art. Go pre-save the Kickstarter now!

Inspired by some older AD&D content, I wanted to create a map of a citadel that was fashioned in the shape of a dwarf's head. As a little nod to the source material that inspired this piece, I've included space variants and tokens for my higher patron tiers.

I hope you all enjoy!
